KeeForge refuses to overwrite changes made from elsewhere while you had the file open, writes a timestamped backup before every save, and rejects damaged databases outright instead of loading partial data.
Every release must pass a gate where KeePassXC — a widely used KeePass app that shares no code with KeeForge — opens KeeForge-written databases, decrypts the passwords, and confirms attachments match bit for bit. Databases created by other KeePass software must likewise open in KeeForge and stay readable elsewhere after KeeForge saves them.
New versions go out on TestFlight before they reach the App Store.

KeeForge reads and writes KDBX 4.x databases using AES-256, ChaCha20, or Twofish with AES-KDF or Argon2. KDBX 3.1 databases open in read-only mode.
Yes. KeeForge reads and writes KDBX 4.x files on each device. Store a database somewhere both devices can access, such as WebDAV or a synced folder. KeeForge does not host or automatically transfer your vault.
In your encrypted database, on your device or in storage you choose. On iPhone and iPad, use Files, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or WebDAV. On Mac, open local files, cloud-synced folders, or WebDAV databases. KeeForge does not host your passwords.
Enable KeeForge as a password provider in your device’s system settings. In a supported app or browser, choose a saved credential and unlock KeeForge with Face ID, Touch ID, or your database credentials.
